The areas of the brain affected in schizophrenia

A number of regions of the brain are affected in schizophrenia. Changes reported in the parahippocampul gyrus may arise from abnormal neuronal development during formation of the cortex. Additionally, changes have been implicated in the basal region of the temporal lobe, the cerebellum and the mesolimbic system.
