One of Professor Bech's primary interests is rating scales and their use in psychiatry. Since his doctoral thesis on rating scales in affective disorders he has continued to research and publish extensively on the topic. He is on the editorial board of several international journals, including Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica, European Psychiatry and Psychopharmacology.
